There were other Honda ATC's to choose from, but the two stroke giant ruled the lineup. Read more... ↓

About 250R Parts

rippin 250RThe recipe was a smash hit and the ATC 250R continued to evolve until it was removed from the Honda lineup following the 1986 model year.

By this time, Honda had already released the four wheeled version, the TRX 250R. This animal remained in production until the final unti rolled off the assembly line in 1989. Both the ATC 250R and the TRX 250R are living legends today thanks to countless restorations over the last few decades.

When searching for parts and accessories for any Honda 250R, the old recommendation would be to go to your local Honda dealer because most parts are still available over the counter. This requires travel and sometimes paying a little more.

Times have changed however, and whether you own an ATC 250R or a TRX 250R today's quest for Honda repair parts can be done from home. (Check for OEM Parts). The days of browsing from you laptop or smartphone are here to stay. Technology breeds convenience. Sometimes you can even find used parts up for sale. In some cases even track down a complete used 250R for parts if you are doing a restoration.

The last benefit from buying your 250R parts online is that you can also save on sales tax on larger items. This, of course, depends on you home state, since tax laws vary among the states.

Some out of production items or even complete 250R's for parts can be located on ebay (Check eBay). You'll also find many used parts, genuine parts, old magazines, and accessories. Once you have an account your can set it up to email you if something you need goes up for sale.

This feature is extremely valuable if you're doing a total restoration. I usually make it a point to recommend this venue since it works so well for older ATC and ATV parts.

Then we also have a selection of online vendors listed below. These stores have access to the 250R parts fiche on their sites making it easy to see which OEM parts are still available, and which parts have faded into obsolescence. Honda has supported the 250R for the past few decades with most of the original parts still available.

You can check for yourself and then formulate a plan for repair or rebuilding with new or used parts. You can pretty much expect that if the OEM part you need has been discontinued on one set of fiche, then it has been discontinued on all of them. Once Honda stops supporting a particular 250R item, it disappears from all vendors. Good luck and enjoy...

250R Footnotes

As a footnote, the 250R has ridden into the sunset from a manufacturers point of view, however, these off-road vehicles still have a quite a cult following. This is thanks to the availability of spare parts, some directly from the manufacturers, some aftermarket reproductions, and some used parts.

Arguably, Honda was the leader of the pack regarding the 3 wheeled 250R, Honda posted an official 3 wheeler timeline for their models.

It is the official, fact filled history of Honda 3 wheelers and it is pretty interesting if I do say so myself. Another cool website for the 3 wheeler enthusiasts is Off-Road Vintage, they have some great old brochures, photos, and plenty of info from the era when 3 wheeled ATC's ruled the roost.

As far as we know, Honda has not officially announced any plans to bring back the Honda 250R. However, Honda has a long history of producing high-quality ATV's and dirt bikes, and it's possible that they may consider bringing back the 250R or a similar model in the future. If you're interested in the Honda 250R, you may want to reach out to Honda directly to express your interest and encourage them to consider bringing back the model. You could also stay tuned to ATV news and updates to see if any announcements are made regarding the production of the Honda 250R.

The most frequently purchased parts include plastic parts, brakes, tires, chain and sprocket sets, cdi boxes, ignition components, and bearing carriers. I have also listed some other 3 Wheeler parts here. Some of the suppliers are the same as here, but it may be worth a look anyway. Keep on Ridin'...
